What is a CSA?

A farm share program is a form of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).  It involves a mutual commitment between consumers and growers. In return for an upfront payment the farmer provides a portion of the weekly harvest for each family throughout the growing season. This method of financing allows the producer to pay for expenses early in the season while allowing consumers to receive more produce per dollar than they could purchase at the farmers market or grocery store.  The wide range of produce provided gives families the opportunity to expand the range of their diets and discover new favorites.  Share size is dictated by family size and appetite.  A single share is generally sufficient for families of up to four members while larger families will likely require a double share to meet their needs.

When you become a member of our Farm Share you will receive a reusable box of produce each week.   The season begins in mid-June through mid-October.

Early summer deliveries might include salad mix, green onions, radishes, herbs, broccoli, rhubarb, cabbage, beets, spinach, baby potatoes, peas, beans, kale, and other early season crops while late summer deliveries feature tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, melons, carrots, squash, garlic, onions, kohlrabi, Brussel sprouts, sweet corn, zucchini, and a wide variety of herbs and other warm season crops. Families that cook frequently with fresh herbs might consider adding our herb share to receive a variety of fresh herbs each week.  Fresh herbs include various kinds of basil, chives, cilantro, lemon balm, lemon thyme, marjoram, mints, parsley, rosemary, sage, savory, stevia, thyme, and more.  If your family would like to do some gardening in addition to receiving a weekly share, we have a variety of vegetable transplants, flower perennials, and potted herbs available upon request.
